Liverpool's Star Offers Regret to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that Mohamed Salah apologised to the group of players after the controversy from his public comments.
What Happened
Salah was left out from a key Champions League match following voicing frustrations and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had broken down.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I apologise.’”
The head coach has previously declined to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
He emphasized that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and we all treated him normally,” the midfielder explained.
Jones also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is less of an issue. “It's clear there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have remained strong in the games following the initial controversy. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to cause disruption.
“In moments of frustration, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” Jones concluded. “It's behind us and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and securing victories.”
